My concentration is a series of photographs centered around the design of musical instruments. I set up the instruments in different positions to capture the details of line, shape, and texture through lighting. Light and shadow are an important aspect for all the photographs. While playing with light, I also captured the instruments from multiple view points to give attention to tiny details of the instruments. I focused on the parts of the instruments that are necessary in making music. For example, I photographed the mouth piece of the euphonium exaggerating the scale and proportion of the mouth piece; it looked bigger than it actually was. In the second to last photograph I chose to photograph the piano in motion as it was being played. I incorporated music and notes in the background of the image with the flute, by having sheet music under the instruments.
The attention to pattern, rhythm, and movement within each of these photos parallels a musical work with its own crescendos, musical scales and melody.
