RESEARCH
My photographer is Edward Weston. He lived from 1886-1958 in Highland Park, Illinois. He spent the majority of his childhood in Chicago where he attended Oakland Grammar School. He began photographing at the age of sixteen after receiving a Bulls Eye #2 camera from his father. My photographer's main subject is photographing vegetable such as peppers and egg plant. I loved how Weston made the pepper into a really weird shape that was made it more than just a pepper. Since it was black and white the light also made different shapes. He was the most influential photographer of the 20th century.
CRITIQUE(comparing both pictures)
Weston's photo does have shadows and highlights. So does the emulation. Both of the pictures are in focus and black and white. The pictures were also taken at eye level. They do not show rules of thirds in the picture. Since the whole picture is in focus, the center is the point of interest and there is no distracting background. In Weston's picture your eyes do move through the picture because the pepper has really weird shape. But in my picture your eyes move round the picture since the pepper is round. My photograph doesn't really have leading lines but it does have curves in it. I think most successful things is that it did come out the way I liked it. This was more of a photo inspiration rather than photo emulation. I think the photographer would try to find a more weird pepper to take a picture of if he had to make my picture better.
